Sathis Manoharen

Sathis was born with iron deficiency in his embryonic days, robbing him of any super powers Iron Man had and sadly ending his crime-fighting career before it even begun. Unable to battle forces of evil, he instead worked as AirAsia & AirAsia X’s Regional Cargo Head. Sathis is the love-child of Strategy and Creativity which now neither parent admits to having him, hence his motto in life is “I have no special talent, I’m just passionately curious”.

Sathis was appointed as Regional Head of Cargo, AirAsia and AirAsia X in July 2009. He started his career in the aviation industry with AirAsia in October 2008 in the Group CEO’s office. He reported to Tony Fernandes and Azran Osman-Rani. The Regional Head of Cargo portfolio encompasses both AirAsia & AirAsia X cargo development and operations. He led the cargo team to be first Low Cost Cargo Carrier to win 4 world awards and 3 Asian level awards. AirAsia become the first airline to have won the World’s Best Customer Care Cargo award for 3 consecutive years.

Before being a member of the AirAsia family, Sathis was a management consultant with Accenture, primarily working in the Oil & Gas management consulting projects. He completed consulting projects in Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and China. He started his career with Foster Wheeler on Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Plant and Natural Gas piping projects. Prior to working in Accenture, he worked for ConocoPhillips. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

Sathis had a brief stint with GrabTaxi as a Regional Head of Operations, an immense Tech start-up experience gained in spearheading operations for South East Asia’s largest on demand taxi booking mobile app
